Kristin Spohrer is a Licensed Practical Nurse and, since 2019, a full-time Certified Oklahoma ADvantage Case Manager. Her specialization includes advocating for a caseload of aging and disabled individuals to enable them to age in place. She achieves this by providing care plan development, supplies, and services in the comfort of their own homes, thereby avoiding long-term care placement. She advocates for the needs of individuals and their families.
In addition to her full-time position, she is also an entrepreneur. She is the founder of My Hero’s Journey, LLC which produces a product to allow elders to pass on their wisdom as a family heirloom and participate in multi-generational events. Additionally, she serves as an independent consultant for aging-in-place and aging options in Oklahoma. She believes that knowledge and action empower seniors to make long-term aging decisions before a crisis arises.
Throughout her career, Kristin has gained valuable experience in various healthcare settings, including hospice care, community health, and urgent care services. She also has a background in teaching holistic protocols. With over 35-years of experience in holistic wellness encompassing body, mind, and spirit modalities, Kristin has provided health, happiness, teaching, and encouragement. Additionally, she has addressed the fundamental needs of individuals, such as food, clothing, and shelter.
Kristin's dedication extends to her passion for the elderly community and addressing the societal challenges associated with the impending "silver tsunami" expected to crest in Oklahoma by 2030. Her educational background includes a BS in Human Environmental Sciences from Oklahoma State University, a Certified Legal Assistant designation from the University of Tulsa, a Traditional Naturopathic Doctor degree from Trinity College of Natural Health, and a Practical Nursing degree from Tulsa Technology Center. She is a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist through AARP and the National Association of Home Builders. She has also pursued studies in nonprofit management and grant writing at Tulsa Community College with the hope of contributing to her local community's response to the impending elder care crisis.
Kristin's commitment to service is evident through her volunteer work at Eastern Oklahoma Legal Aid and the Tulsa County District Attorney's office. During her nursing school years, she served as Class President, balancing her responsibilities with four part-time jobs while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. As a lifelong citizen of Oklahoma, she places a high value on continuous learning, personal achievement, and growth. Kristin is a graduate of the 2023 OAALA program (Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy). She firmly believes in empowering individuals to promote social reform for senior citizens on local, state, and federal levels. Her tireless energy and positive attitude make her a relentless seeker of knowledge, truth, justice, and positive change.
In her leisure time, Kristin actively participates in Life Senior Services' Senior Center, engaging in activities such as yoga, walking, exercise, community involvement, and pickleball. She enjoys attending festivals, spending time with her dogs, creating art, immersing herself in nature, grilling on her deck, and creating culinary delights.
In addition to the foundational product My Hero's Journey Legacy Deck, we also offer consulting on how best to start ongoing wisdom workshops to complete the legacy deck as a group and how best to create wisdom teams to serve the community. By utilizing the legacy deck as a focal point for discussion, it can bridge the gap between generations for the benefit of the elders and society as a whole.
We also offer independent consulting for aging options in Oklahoma.
